Reporting directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), this role will support the day-to-day administrative functions of the HR department while also serving as a strategic thought partner to the CHRO. Working as part of a small, collaborative People & Culture team, the Generalist plays a vital role across the employee lifecycle—from onboarding and compliance to employee relations and benefits administration.

Essential Job Functions

  • Recruitment & Onboarding
  • Assist with job postings, applicant screening, interview coordination, and background checks
  • Coordinate and conduct new hire orientations
  • Ensure timely and accurate onboarding processes for new staff
  • Maintain and update onboarding materials to ensure consistency and alignment with organizational practices
  • Collect, organize, and maintain all employee records and documentation in compliance with HR policies and legal requirements

Employee Relations & Engagement

  • Serve as a resource for employee questions regarding policies, procedures, and benefits
  • Support conflict resolution and provide guidance to employees and managers
  • Help coordinate employee engagement initiatives and events

Benefits & Leave Administration

  • Assist employees with benefits enrollment and questions
  • Support open enrollment and benefit communications
  • Manage leave of absence tracking and documentation (FMLA, ADA, etc.)

HRIS & Records Management

  • Maintain accurate employee records in the HRIS and physical files
  • Processes payroll and all complete all payroll reports such as retirement and benefit contributions.
  • Act as the primary HR point of contact, responsible for processing, tracking, and maintaining all HR-related documentation
  • Generate regular HR reports and audits to ensure data accuracy
  • Support system updates and improvements

Compliance & Policy Administration

  • Help ensure HR practices are in compliance with federal and state employment laws
  • Assist with policy implementation and updates
  • Participate in audits and prepare required documentation

General HR Support

  • Respond to employee inquiries and provide timely support
  • Support special projects and organizational initiatives as assigned
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support HR-related processes

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2–4 years of progressive HR experience required, preferably in a nonprofit or healthcare setting
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
  • Experience with HRIS systems, ADP preferred
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred not required
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred not required.
  • Yearly influenza vaccination required or medical/religious exemption.
  • Experience in reproductive healthcare or advocacy-focused organization

The starting pay for this position is $68,000 - $72,000 annual DOE.
