Job Title: Controller
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Compensation: $150K - $175K + Bonus

 

Position Summary

TwentyThree North has been engaged by a rapidly growing construction company to conduct a confidential Controller.

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented accountant to lead the organization’s accounting and reporting functions. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role will be tasked with scaling the department and improving processes as the company continues to grow. The Controller will also contribute as a key member of the leadership team and interact with the private equity firm.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly process, delivering timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Direct daily accounting operations encompassing journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and fixed asset oversight to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Prepare monthly reporting packages for BOD meetings.
• Lead automation initiatives to streamline reconciliations and reporting.
• Lead post-acquisition financial integration efforts, including aligning accounting policies, consolidating systems, and standardizing reporting to ensure a smooth transition and accurate consolidated financials.
• Build and maintain SOPs to standardize accounting workflows.
• Prepare the company for third-party audits and financial diligence.
• Coordinate tax filings, 1099s, sales/use tax compliance, and regulatory reporting
• Manage and mentor the accounting team

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
• CPA preferred
• Public Accounting experience preferred but not required
• 6+ years of accounting experience, with 2+ years in a leadership role
• Demonstrated success preparing for audits, supporting transaction diligence, or working in a PE-backed environment.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting and build processes from the ground up.
